Dr. Wally A. OmarDr. Wally A. Omar is a highly accomplished board certified interventional cardiologist and structural heart specialist in Interventional Cardiology and Cardiovascular Disease. After receiving his medical degree and completing his training at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, Dr. Omar pursued advanced fellowship training at Harvard Medical School, where he developed specialized expertise in complex coronary and structural heart disease. He subsequently completed additional training in valvular heart disease, adult congenital heart disease, and mechanical circulatory support.

Prior to joining Sorin Medical, Dr. Omar served as Director of Structural Heart Interventions at Northwell Health, where he developed and led a comprehensive structural heart program. He has also held academic appointments as an Instructor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School and as an Assistant Professor at the Zucker School of Medicine, contributing to the education and mentorship of future cardiovascular specialists.

Dr. Omar has an extensive background in academic medicine and cardiovascular research. As faculty at the Harvard Clinical Research Institute, he has led and overseen pivotal clinical trials that have advanced the field of structural heart disease. He has authored more than 30 peer-reviewed publications in leading medical journals, including Circulation, Journal of the American College of Cardiology, and American Journal of Cardiology, and has served in editorial roles within the cardiovascular field.

At Sorin Medical, Dr. Omar will play a key role in expanding the practice’s comprehensive Structural Heart Program, increasing access to minimally invasive and nonsurgical therapies for patients with heart valve disease and atrial fibrillation, with a particular focus on stroke prevention. He will hold admitting and procedural privileges at NYU Langone Health in both Manhattan and Brooklyn, as well as at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital, allowing him to deliver advanced, minimally invasive cardiac care to patients across the greater New York area.
